FORENSIC ENTOMOLOGY
This web has been made by Manuel Castillo Miralbés, a veterinarian by profession. It is about the results obtained in the investigation carried out in Esplús, (Huesca), from 1997 to 1999, in order to get a phD about Forensic Entomology in the "Litera region" (Spain).
This work is based on the research into the role of Arthropods in the decay process. The work was carried out by the author in order to get a PhD in Veterinary.
Flies are the first insects attracted to the corpse. After larva or ovoposition they develop through stages consuming the carcass at a rate which varies with climatic factors. The study of Arthropod sucession ans interpretation of entomological data in Forensic situations is very useful to estimate PMI and may yield details related to death.
